Capital Services is seeking an experienced, Employee Benefits Account Executive to join their team!


  • Salary: $65,000 to $80,000+ annually based on years of experience
  • Office Location: Towson, MD - Hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office, 2 days remote
  • Work Hours: Monday through Friday roughly 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST
  • Travel: Travel is a requirement of this position and may involve occasional out-of-area and overnight travel

Employee Benefits Account Executive Role Summary:

This role includes a results-oriented individual working as an Employee Benefits Account Executive in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Group Operations for Account Management and the President of Sales. The Account Executive is responsible for the day-to-day account management including marketing, data analysis, presentation, client technology liaison, and servicing of all funding methods including fully insured, level-funded, captive, consortium, and self-funded plans for routinely/moderately complex mid-large group client accounts. The incumbent manages an assigned book of business and builds, expands, and solidifies relationships with existing clients. In addition, this individual will be responsible for proactively generating new client relationships and meeting sales target goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of insurance risk concepts, federal and state regulations and legislation, and analytical/financial skills. Applicants will need to be energetic self-starters, organized, team players, and able to prioritize responsibilities and objectives in a fast-paced environment.


Employee Benefits Account Executive Responsibilities:

Account Executive Duties:

  • Develop and deepen relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities for up-selling and cross-selling, thereby enhancing client satisfaction.
  • Take the lead on designated renewals: prepare RFP, collect, and review competitive proposals, and prepare renewal presentations illustrating market offerings.
  • Oversee and manage supporting team members and the overall workflow.
  • Provide administrative support to an assigned block of clients.
  • Resolve the most complex customer service problems directly.
  • Day-to-day contact for clients for service needs including client technology liaison in bridging the gap between clients and our company.
  • Conduct client meetings, including open enrollment employee meetings.
  • Maintain data integrity and quality with any applicable software on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and analyze financial and claims utilization reporting.
  • Coordinate employee communications for enrollment.
  • Oversee new client set-up, renewals, and open enrollment meetings.
  • Establish and preserve a solid business rapport with clients and vendors.
  • Educate clients on applicable legislation and market trends.
  • Generate client interest in additional lines of coverage and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Coach and assist less tenured client services staff.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Business Development Support Duties:

  • Sales Excellence: Consistently meet and surpass sales targets through effective management of both new and existing client portfolios.
  • Sales Presentations: Craft and deliver impactful sales presentations to diverse prospective clients, underscoring the unique value proposition of our services.
  • Develops and increases sales revenue to meet assigned targets.
  • Checks on competitive activity and develops new methods of attaining new clients for HR and Benefits.
  • Becomes actively involved in new sales opportunities.
  • Prepares quotes, contracts and RFP responses for potential customers.
  • Maintains all quote documentation with accurate pricing and configurations.
  • Responsible for keeping clients informed of products that company sells to up-sell.
  • Keeps informed of new products, services and other general information of interest to customers.
  • Assists in troubleshooting problems regarding products provided.
  • Maintains all sales demonstration tools and applications.
  • Develops and delivers sales presentations in a professional and effective manner.
  • Develops technical presentations for potential customers.
  • Maintains up-to-date awareness of company activities, industry trends and government regulations.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Employee Benefits Account Executive Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of professional working experience as an account manager or client service representative within an employee benefits insurance agency/brokerage.
  • State Life & Health Producer license required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (not required).
  • Insurance agency management software experience is required. Zywave systems experience is preferred.
  • Experience overseeing a supporting team and managing workflows.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Smartsheets is preferred.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and be able to translate business and technical requirements into workable solutions.
  • Must possess strong communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to communicate directly with clients, vendors, colleagues, and the executive management team.
  • Must possess the ability to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of timelines and budgets.
  • Must possess the ability to work effectively as an individual and part of a team.
  • Experience managing and supporting the entire sales process.
